Music Libraries

The Information box holds quick reference instructions. These instructions provide an on-screen reminder of the basic steps and requirements for Library configuration.

 

The Library Status box displays the current state of the currently selected library. To see a libraries status select it in the Libraries list directly below the Status box.

 

The Libraries List holds the list of currently available libraries. Basic DJ currently supports as many libraries as your system can handle. A good rule of thumb is 20 to 30 libraries. This allows you to create different sets of music to meet your organizational needs.   You must, however, select your current Default Library. This library will be the active library for your current event session.

 

The Libraries Actions buttons are located immediately to the right of the Libraries list. These buttons allow you to access the library functions.

 

New:

The New button displays the Library Details dialog in the New library mode. You are then able to define all the required parameters for your new library.

 

Edit:

The Edit button displays the Library Details dialog in the Edit library mode. You are then able to modify any of the required parameters of an existing   library.

 

Import:

The Import button displays the Library Details dialog in the Import library mode. You are then able to locate an existing Library for import. Once located this will import the required parameters from the selected library file.

 

Remove:

The Remove button removes the selected Library from the Libraries List. It does not delete it from the system. This allows you to import it back into the list using the Import action at a later time.   If you want to permanently delete a library you must do it utilizing My Computer or the Windows Explore. It is helpful to note a Libraries location in the Status box before removal. This assists in finding it for deletion or re-import at a later time.

 

Default:

The Default   button allows you to set the current active library from the Libraries List. The Default library is the library that will be accessible from the event session. In the event that there is only a single library in the list it will automatically be set to default upon exit of the Music Libraries dialog.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Music folders are the actual music storage locations for a library. A music folder is directly associated with only one Library. Music is copied by Basic DJ to the selected music folder during the import process. When creating a music folder you must select a user friendly name and target folder. It is recommended that you create a folder to dedicate to your music folders.

Exits the Music Libraries manager dialog. You will be prompted on exit if there any issues with your settings that require attention.
